Ranjan Maharana continues to explore the diversity of expressions and symbolisms possible through Human, Animal and Bird images and forms. His works explore many of our most fundamental dichotomies: Nature/Culture, Urban/Rural, Traditional/Contemporary and Figuration/Abstraction. He pictures Animals and Birds at odds with the burgeoning urban environment. Overall, Ranjan conveys a universe where the distinctions of Animal, Birds Vegetable and Mineral seem increasingly irrelevant. Ranjan Maharana was born in Salabani,Keonjhar, Odisha in 1984. He received a BFA from the BK College of Art & Crafts in Bhubaneswar (2005) and then an MFA at the Indra kala sangit University in Khairagarh,Chatishgarh (2008). His paintings have recently been featured in "INFINITY" a group exhibition of new art from India. Organized by “VOLUME VISUAL ART”( Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar, march2015).
